As the title indicates, Facemelter – the anticipated new recording from Y&T – is a hard rockin’, song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band’s raw energy and tightness that they’ve become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. Should be renamed to facewarmer. I mean why name it melter when half the tracks are slow/bluesy or ballads? I mean if you name this FaceMelter- I want it to grab me from note one, then pick up the pace & ROCK throughout the record. Its OK but somehow I thought I was cheated. Maybe 3 good tracks but not worth $15. (love the old style album cover though- brings me back to Black Tiger days)

Dave is amazing and the band sounds like the great stuff they pumped out in the early 80′s.

Y&T is my all-time fav metal band ,80s or whatever. I never got to see the boys live but I heard about their legedary shows. Yes legendary. They are truly an amazing live act. They made great albums but Y&T kills on stage- it’s their thing.
I cut my teeth on “In Rock We Trust” and was FOREVER hooked. I wore out all my Y&T cassettes and even had ‘Mean Streak,”Black Tiger” on vinyl. So a new cd…
I love the new album. It took 2-3 listens esp on headphones to get used to the band’s sound. Dave Meniketti sounds fantasic-vocals & guitar. The man can still play. Dave’s amazing metal roar may have been tamed a bit w/ age but his voice is still great. I’m not too crazy about the new drummer. Jimmy DeGrasso was a beast on the skins. His drum sound was the best I heard next to Eric Carr & Lars Ulrich(my favs). He made Leonard Haze’s departure become Leonard who. I’m not too crazy about the new guitarist. I think Dave n Phil could have found better musicians in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong they pass with a push.
It’s dave’s voice plus his writing that make this cd. A little too tongue in cheeky w/ ‘Gonna Go Blind’. It’s kinda silly today. Tracks 2-7 are just classic Y&T tunes. In Rock We Trust, Mean Streak etc revisted. Fantastic comeback, great new cd.

Face Melter is a good solid album from Y&T. The opener “prelude”, is a little wierd but redeems itself with the very strong “On With The show”. “How long” rocks and “Shine on” has a definite “Dirty Girl” vibe. There are plenty of cool riffs (“I want your money”) and clasic sounding stuff (“I’m Coming Home”). Blind Patriot is one of the Best songs. The middle solo is awesome. I’d love to see it live. The extremely tounge in cheek lyrics of “Gonna Go Blind” do not work next to other stronger tunes. Dave Meniketti’s singing and guitar playing shine throughout. Another solid album from a great Band.
