On the Budos Band’s third album is the first time I feel really lost on the band. I’m not sure what to make of the darker sound that pervades this album, and I’m especially confused about all of the repetition. The band clearly doesn’t want to repeat their past efforts, but they’ve made a bad switch by exchanging their sense of exploration for a moodier direction. Though I still have faith in the band as a musical force, this new album just isn’t winning me over. I really wanted it to, too.

  3. This is pure brilliance. Great funk instrumental jams, there is simply nothing bad to say about this album. I am blown away by how good it is! Only helpful descrition I can come up with would be that if you like some of the Beastie Boys instrumental music, imagine that played by world class musicians (no disrespect to the Beastie’s, they clearly love playing the funk jams but they aren’t the world’s best musicians!)and you have a sense of how good this is…

  4. I’d recommend this CD to any fan of the Budos Band. I personally didn’t find it overly repetitive, and as with I and II, I love all the funky songs and variety of instruments. My only complaint is that the CD isn’t very long, but I still consider it a solid investment and great addition to my library of music.
